You can now read the most recent Treatment Advocacy Center newsletter Catalyst online. The lead article continues our examination of the public institutions that, unfortunately, have become de facto shelters and what this tells us about our need to treat people in need. We share with you the results of a survey published in the journal of the Public Library Association. In this issue, we profile a dedicated advocate / provider / consumer who is also a Treatment Advocacy Center Board member, Dr. Fred Frese. You will enjoy the Q & A with Fred. We also feature our Torrey Commendation winners: three families and the National Sheriffs Association (NSA). Each family has experienced what we try to help others avoid; all three now share a common purpose – to inspire others to advocate for the reforms needed to prevent more suffering. The NSA supports assisted outpatient treatment laws and issues training materials to its members.
This Catalyst continues to highlight activities from around the states, including an evaluation of the many quantifiable, beneficial effects of Kendra’s Law in New York by an unassailable research team, the adoption of a new AOT law in New Jersey and progress on implementation in Texas, Ohio and Montana. |
